Former President of the European Commission (1995 – 1999) and Prime Minister of Luxembourg (1984 – 1995). As Honorary Minister of State, Jacques Santer has played a major role giving new impetus to philanthropy in Luxembourg.
He is co-founder of the Schengen Peace Foundation and Chairman of the Board of the Forum Europa Foundation Luxembourg, and is also Chairman of the Board of the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (Mudam Luxembourg).
Director of the Centre Français des Fondations (French Foundation Centre), Béatrice de Durfort also leads counsel and expertise activities in the field of culture. She has been gathering expertise in foundation matters since 1994 when she was appointed Managing Director of the Fondation Napoléon. Before that she led several cultural missions for the city of Paris. She was member of the board of the Cinemathèque de la Danse and held responsibilities at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de la Ville de Paris. Beatrice du Durfort was President of the Patrimoine sans Frontières (Cultural Heritage without borders) from 1997 until 2009.
The Centre Français des Fondations’ (CFF) aim is to unite all state-approved foundations, to foster best practices between its members, to represent them on a national and international level and to promote the recognition and development of the foundation sector in general. The CFF was founded in 2002.

Managing Director of the King Baudouin Foundation in Brussels. Luc Tayart de Borms plays a key role in major philanthropic organisations as President of the Network of European Foundations for Innovative Cooperation (NEF), Treasurer of the King Baudouin Foundation United States, trustee of the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA) and member of the board of the European Cultural Foundation (FEC).
Based in Brussels, the King Baudouin Foundation is an independent and pluralistic foundation that pursues sustainable ways to bring justice, democracy and respect for diversity. It also acts as umbrella foundation to individuals wishing to engage in charitable projects without having to create their own independent legal structure.
Chairman of the Dutch Associations Foundation, Rien van Gendtspent most of his career at the Van Leer Entity, joining the Bernard Van Leer Foundation - a charitable organisation focusing on promoting the development of disadvantaged children - in 1988 as Executive Director. From 2002 until October 2007 he was Executive Director of the Van Leer Group Foundation which acts as a holding for all charitable activities of the Van Leer Entity. Fondazione Cariplo is a nonprofit organisation which exists to further charitable initiatives in a range of areas mainly through giving grants to NGOs and associations already active on the ground.
