Banque de Luxembourg partners with Philanthropy UK to offer clients a guide to giving

Asking the right questions for effective giving

At the end of 2008, inspired by the success of the “Seizing the Opportunity for Philanthropy” Symposium organised by Banque de Luxembourg, the Luxembourg government introduced legislation to improve the tax treatment of philanthropy, and launched the Fondation de Luxembourg, alongside the Oeuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte. By providing support to donors, the Fondation de Luxembourg promotes individual and corporate engagement in projects and actions for the public good.
The exciting developments in the Luxembourg philanthropy arena and the many enquiries from our clients have prompted us to produce this guide to help you get started on your philanthropy project, or quite simply, provide information on how you can give. Topics include finding a charity to support, giving time, involving family and determining the “right” amount to give.

As more and more people seek to find out about how they can give and get involved in philanthropy, this Guide is designed to help you ask the right questions and get you started on your philanthropy journey. It is the perfect accompaniment to our “Your philanthropy project in Luxembourg” guide.

Susan Mackenzie, Philanthropy UK director and author of the guide, says:

“This is a practical guide that offers an excellent springboard for aspiring donors wanting to build programmes of their own.”
