    "First experiences and emerging trends"

  • Diane Wolter, Philanthropy advisor, Banque de Luxembourg
"How to translate charitable objectives and cash-flow requirements into investment strategy?"

  • Hanna Surmatz, Legal Counsel European Foundation Centre
"The current state of play of a European Foundation Statute"
Philanthropy is becoming more and more international – however legislation lags behind. The work of foundations and funders across borders is hampered by legal and administrative barriers. A European legal tool for foundations as a supranational and optional tool would help overcome existing barriers and provide foundations and funders with a new sustainable instrument to pool resources for the public good.
The European Commission announced in the Single Market Act that it will present a regulation on a European Foundation Statute by the end of 2011. Participants will learn about the current state of play of the legislative process and the way forward.
